Reserving A Locker at the Gymn

I have left the gymn several times at closing time. I have noticed that at closing times there are many lockers with locks still on them. Yesterday, I bought a cheap lock and used it to secure a big locker. I don't think anyone will cut off my lock. If they do, then it is no big deal. If they don't, then I get a reserved locker.
